Hello and Welcome to our Brand new Blog - WRITING DUO

We are Katharina Wallenborg from Sweden and Jane Hone from Australia co-authoring and self publishing our debut novel SLEUTHS BY CHANCE.

The book was released in mid July 2019 through Amazon.com and we are both so thrilled about our accomplishment, to the point where we decided to continue on with our writing endeavour. In fact, book number two is currently progressing very well.

A little background story about us. We are close friends despite living in differing hemispheres and met via our shared interest in the beautiful and popular Christmas store, Käthe Wohlfahrt, situated in Rothenburg, Germany. How fitting then, to write a novel set in this quaint and colourful medieval town. With our combined interest in reading cosy mystery novels, but also other kinds of books, we decided to go about co-authoring a novel of our very own.

We were inspired of course from the queen of mystery writing Agatha Christie and then also a more contemporary writer Kerry Greenwood who has in recent years, produced the popular Miss Fisher Murder Mystery series. Still it was not obvious that we should write in this genre. It all started with a first page sent to the other and from there we went, no idea what it would be.

Now, we are certainly not in the same league as those two fine ladies, even if it turned out to be a book about mysteries, but we can at least aspire to be and they are great role models.

If you would like to follow our writing journey here, please do so and we encourage comments and feedback of course.

KOS ISLAND GREEECE 2019

Here we both are enjoying the beautiful Greek Island of KOS and it was only six motnths into our writing journey. Unbeknownst to our husbands, who you can just see in the background, in the photo above. They had no clue we were writing a novel together, not until a year later when the book was published.

How in the world did we manage to write a book in all of that time without them knowing? That was a very difficult thing to hide and we were sure the "cat would be let out of the bag" many times. We had decided early on, to create a surprise for them and it sure was. Priceless moments when we finally revealed the book to them both.

Keeping such a secret is quite tricky and especially when we spent a vacation together on Kos and covertly were discussing the book at every chance. Taking a swim in the sea or a dip in the hotel pool was one way of chatting about our storylines. Almost a mysterious art form in itself and we wonder if we were in fact channeling our lovely heroines in our novel?

We also met one more time, the four of us during the process, then in Australia, and even then we managed to keep our secret. However, now they know we are working on our next book and they are both proud and encouraging.
