Since we published our book in July it has been a most hectic but yet exciting autumn. Now though, we are finally taking a break from our writing and all other things including being authors. Honestly – the whole year has been hectic as we finished our book in January and then had all the after work to do before it could be published.
When the book was written early this year, we had been working on it for 12 months as we began in January 2018. To write takes time of course, but as we are in different time zones and it’s always between eight or ten hours difference it takes even more time. It’s sometimes also a bit troublesome as we mostly communicate via text as it’s not always possible to call, and now we are used to operating that way, and actually feel that it works.
So, what has taken so much time? Well, it has been the editing including proof reading. It has been to find a place to publish our book. Then which cover to use and how it should look, size of it, price and so on. We chose Amazon after some pondering. Actually we never tried to be published at a publishing house. Then the book should be converted to their program, which wasn’t as easy as we had hoped. We took help from an American lady and after some trouble and headache between us all, the book was finally out and we were so proud. Our first book published!
All set then? Of course not. Now it was the marketing and gee, it almost feels as that has taken as much time as the writing. But gee again, how much have we not learned? We must soon be experts, he he. And the fun of it, let’s not forget that.
Did all this work put us off? Not for a second! To rest on the laurels have not been on our minds. So what is happening now? Actually during the process we wrote a second book. It was finished only a few weeks ago and with that work complete, we will now enjoy our holidays. Then when entering in to a brand new 2020, the editing and whole process starts all over again, but with the difference that we have a lot of knowledge in the luggage.
Does writing sound as a negative thing? If so, it’s not, it’s the most fun thing we have ever done. And the grey hair we may have got during the process is always possible to cover, eh. It truly has been a most fascinating journey and to write together proved more fun than we had expected when we began almost two years ago, not even knowing which genre we should write in.
